Alfred & Agnes Memorial Orphanage Mission

Henrietta YatesThe Alfred & Agnes Memorial Orphanage Mission is a local, non-governmental and non-profitable Christian Organization, established early February, 1992 by the late Mother Henrietta B. Yates, who was moved by great compassion and feeling for the children. She established this organization in order to respond to the humanitarian and spiritual needs of hundreds of deprived and disconsolate children who were hopelessly languishing in the streets to seek survival, as the result of the deaths of their parents. Her favorite quotation was “If I can help somebody then my living will not be in vain."

This organization has over the years provided for the needy and supported the less-fortunate youth of Liberia. This institution is duly accredited by Ministry of Health and legally incorporated by law since its establishment.

Currently, we cater to seventy-one orphans and abandoned children. These children, who have come from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds, are provided with shelter, health attention, food, education, and sound Christian doctrine. This institution operates a primary school. We receive assistance from local organizations, friend’s, individuals and the Browntown Baptist Church (USA). We don’t have any direct source of income in order to provide the basic needs for the children and implement our project and other programs aimed at sustaining the institution.

The Children

orphans  The Alfred & Agnes Memorial Orphanage Mission currently caters to seventy-one orphans and abandoned children ranging from 4-17. These children have come from diverse backgrounds and are presently residing at the center in Brewerville.

The institution is located on seven acres of land; we provide separate sleeping quarters for boys and girls and a dining hall, a Chapel for our regular worshipping service, viable agriculture programs and a six-class room school building. The children of AAMOM have proven to be very helpful and instrumental in making this institution a better one; they assisted in molding the bricks that was used for the computer education project. The said project has not commenced due to absence of computers. They also have the team spirit to work in groups, especially in our agriculture gardens; we are presently cultivating land for the production of vegetables, cassava and other crops necessary for the children, this will certainly enable us to reduce the spending on soup materials,  and provide good nutritive value for the children. The children of AAMOM  presently need clothes, footwear, educational materials, and medications.
